Chris was my personal trainer from June 2014 until I moved out of NYC in Jan 2017.  If I could have moved him with me I would have!  Chris has grown tremendously over these years to build Dekhana as a place to come and work hard, learn about health and wellness, and focus on improving your self.  As a teacher and someone who values education, I was so happy to have a trainer that clearly valued obtaining as much information about how to help his clients as possible.  He truly cares about your wellbeing!  If you're willing to learn, Chris is excited to teach and explain details that I have found many trainers leave out.  He does not accept his clients going through the motions, but instead makes sure they are performing each exercise properly for maximum results.  I participated in his small group classes (which are still tailored to each individual) and maintained a consistent private training schedule through two major surgeries, my wedding, and a pregnancy.  No matter what was going on in my life Chris adapted my sessions to help me remain strong physically, mentally and nutritionally.  Since moving I have not sought out another trainer because I am confident that I can use all that Chris has taught me to help me maintain a happy and healthy lifestyle.  I highly recommend Chris if you are looking to improve your health no matter what stage of life you are in!

Chris, the owner of Dekhana Wellness, has been nothing but amazing to work with. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional, and has been an advisor to me on so much more than just exercise and fitness! His devotion to his work and his fitness knowledge makes him able to tailor exercise in the moment to facilitate pain or discomfort. He is flexible, encouraging and supportive, and works hard to create programs based on my likes and dislikes, preferences, time availability and general thoughts on fitness- making it impossible for me to NOT commit or follow through. Chris is a pleasure to work with and spend time with, making my training fun and something I look forward to instead of dreading! As someone with a complicated injury, Chris has helped me heal and get back to being active and stronger than I've been in years, with no further complications. This is really as good as it gets. I've been doing the group sessions with Chris at his St Nicholas location for well over 2 years now and I have far surpassed the goals we set in the beginning, thanks to the 2 things Chris emphasizes: baby steps and consistency. And every time I was about to fall off the wagon, he was there to support me, help me focus and get back on track. Well worth the investment!

Chris is probably the only trainer I've seen who actually focuses on what you need. He advises on how and why you should or should not be doing certain movements and is constantly training himself, attending courses and workshops to better his knowledge.
As a semi- pro athlete he understands my needs, helping me meet my goals safely.

  Chris Crawford has been my personal trainer for about 2 years now. I hired him after my original trainer disappeared from my local gym. Even while working with my original trainer, I suspected that Chris was a much better choice. And I was proven right. 

Chris is totally dedicated to his profession. He constantly seeks out seminars that will enhance his knowledge and skill set, which he can then share with his clients. He is focused on a complete approach which includes fitness, nutrition, spiritual and mental balance. Using one-on-one assessments, he constructs individualized programs based on each person's needs and physicality. Even in his group fitness classes, everyone is doing what is best for them and their performance level. 

As someone who honestly does not love working out, Chris keeps me motivated and moving in the right direction. I recognize the progress I've made with his help. He pushes and challenges me to do more than I thought I was capable of doing. Without any doubt or reservation, I highly recommend Chris Crawford as a personal trainer.

I have never thought much about going to the gym let alone having someone who sets workouts for you... So I have been going to gyms for years and as you can expect have little or no results.  Now since working out with Chris at Dekhana for over a year now my body and attitude has changed and so much for the better!!

I love his energy and his commitment to both my success but his love for what he does.  I recommend Dekhana to everyone!!

Chris takes his career very seriously and really makes a program that works for you and your goals. His private and group sessions are great and highly recommend for all those who are serious about their health and wellness.

He is very dedicated and ensures each participant has personalized attention during class, ensuring you really understand each exercise and the "why" behind any necessary form corrections. I've worked with him in one-on-one training sessions and small group classes where he provides a tailored approach to his clients (whether you are new to training or have experience around a gym). I started training with Chris since January 2017 after taking a 6 month "break" from exercising. After discussing my fitness goals, Chris did a basic fitness test with me and created a dynamic program tailored to my needs. He regularly assess's my progress and changes up my program to challenge me mentally and physically. Chris has a holistic approach towards health and lifestyle. He not only focuses on exercising but also on healthy eating , achieving balance and stress management. I have been training with Chris since April 2017, in small group training, as well as personal training sessions once a week. I have been working out in the gym for years, but I had a hard time getting back on track after a sports-related injury. When I started Working out with Chris,  I was surprised to find how simple the exercises are; most of them are based on body weight, kettle bell and a Swiss ball. So how is it different than classes at the gym? There is a HUGE difference and here it is-

Chris's training system is personalized.  After one month of working out,  Chris assessed  my range of movement, muscle weakness and Posture problems. He adjusted  the exercises such that I'd get stronger without any injuries, and do the exercise the right way. For the first time since my injury, I have been able to stick to a workout routine, my posture improved tremendously, my neck pain is almost gone, the  muscle mass increased and I look fit!

I am more than happy to recommend Chris's classes and personal training.

I started private training with Chris about three months ago. Because it had been years since I had worked out regularly, I was concerned that the transition to an intense routine would be unpleasant, more burden than benefit. My experience, though, has been absolutely wonderful. Our journey--and Chris really is as committed to my transformation as I am--has been a smooth one, exciting and even fun. It began with a thorough assessment of my body composition, strength, and mobility, setting a baseline for growth, which Chris carefully explained to me and continues to bring to life as I make progress. And, I am seeing amazing results. However, the best part is that the process feels 100% personalized. I met Chris in November 2016, not knowing what to expect, I was and have been so happily surprised. Chris takes his role as a personal trainer extremely serious, he is continually educating himself and his clients.
He prides himself in giving each client individual attention (meaning not all programs are the same). Chris also takes the time to get to know his clients, their lifestyle, their interests etc.
Chris also prides himself in safety and form. His classes are not 'boot camp- screaming' but rather individualized plans for each client.
He pushes and instills confidence in me, which is priceless.
I attend his classes and then work with him on a one to one basis. It is very clear that he is passionate about his work and each client he works with.

Having never used a personal trainer before, I am so glad I came across Chris.  He is extremely  personable and thoughtful in tailoring the perfect training program.  He combines knowledge of fitness, diet and body and is always looking to build his knowledge beyond basic fitness programs, e.g., spine, fitness for children, etc.  He is motivating without being too pushy.  As a result of using Chris, I have lost weight, strengthened my core and feel a lot healthier and fitter.
